Overview

Objective

To improve and unify the techniques of SKIF members in Japan and overseas while providing the opportunity for members to interact and build friendships.

5.Venue: Omori Sports Center, Ota City, 2-2-5 Omori-honcho, Ota City, Tokyo

An approximately 6-minute walk from Heiwajima Station, located on the Keihin Kyuko Main Line (Keikyu Honsen)

7.Content:

  • a. Technical clinic (4 individual classes)
  • b. Referee clinic (2 individual classes)
  • c. Dan promotion test

8.Participation qualifications:

Officially registered members of the Shotokan Karate-do International Federation who are at least of Age 16 & above and have a rank of 3rd kyu (brown belt) or higher. (For karate practitioners that do not meet these requirements but would like to participate, approval must be obtained in advance from SKIF Headquarters.)

9.Schedule:

Monday, April 2nd, 2018

11:00–15:00 Hanami (cherry blossom-viewing party) along Tama River.

(An approximately 10-minute walk from Unoki Station, located on theTokyu-Tamagawa line.)

This outdoor gathering (which may be delayed or cancelled depending on the weather) will be open to anyone wishing to participate. Relax among the cherry blossoms, which are usually in bloom at this time of the year, while enjoying drinks, snacks and conversation with your karate friends.

10.Participation fees:

JPY 2,000 per class for each technical clinic and referee clinic class offered.

Special JPY 10,000 fee (discount of JPY 2,000) for those participating in all six clinic classes.

The joint training session on the morning of the second day is free of charge.

Note: The above fees apply to all participating members.

11.Application deadline:

Saturday, February 28, 2018 (Initial deadline) =Can accept those countries who need VISA application anytime beforehand.

Note: Early applications would be appreciated to help the organizers get an idea of the number of participants, which will enable them to make necessary preparations. We do, however, understand that some members may not be able to confirm their availability until after the initial deadline. In such cases, we would appreciate members submitting their applications as early as possible.

12.Other:

Although this seminar is being organized by SKIF, support, including securing the seminar venue and other cooperation, is once again being provided by Ota City in Tokyo, in which SKIF Headquarters is located, and by the Ota City Board of Education and Ota City Karate Federation. Therefore, beginning at 9:30 a.m. on the second day of the seminar (Saturday, March 31st, 2018), a joint training session (no fee required) will be held with karate practitioners residing in Ota City. All members taking part in the seminar are encouraged to participate in this joint training session.

Additional information

SKIF Headquarters will not be arranging lodging for this seminar. As such, participants are requested to take care of all necessary lodging arrangements on their own. The venue where the clinics will be held is located in walking distance (approx. 6 minutes) from Heiwajima Station on the Keihin Kyuko Main Line (Keikyu Honsen). Accordingly, participants may want to consider lodging near Shinagawa* Station or in the vicinity of Kamata Station (both of which offer easy access to the seminar venue), or somewhere in between these two locations.

* Shinagawa is the largest district in the southwestern region of Tokyo and offers a large selection of city and business hotels.

Distances between various train stations

  • Heiwajima Station —— Shinagawa Station: approx. 10 minutes by train
  • Heiwajima Station —— Keikyu Kamata Station: approx. 5 minutes by train

Note: Although Shinagawa Station and Keikyu Shinagawa Station are located directly next to each other, Kamata Station and Keikyu Kamata Station are separated by a distance requiring about a 10-minute walk.

SKIF Headquarters is located at Kugahara Station (about a 1-minute walk from the station) on the Tokyu Ikegami Line, which is approximately 7 minutes by train from Kamata Station.
